On the site of the Amager Centre were the firm\u2019s original buildings, dating back to 1812.<\/p>\n<p>There have been several renovation projects over the years, but in the end the centre needed a comprehensive rebuild and expansion. This was based on the building&#8217;s original appearance, thereby recreating the industrial look, and was finished in 2020. The project was a collaboration between DEAS and Danske Shoppingcentre, and the project design was entrusted to PLH Arkitekter and COWI. The result is a contemporary and upgraded building that fits nicely into its surroundings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>History is woven into the plant wall<\/h2>\n<div>A green wall can do anything! The previously drab rear courtyard has been turned into a pleasant urban area, attracting many guests to the square and caf\u00e9s. PLH Arkitekter included a plant wall in the renovation plans from the start. To get a clear understanding of the building&#8217;s history, PLH Arkitekter studied old photos and drawings to see what the facades originally looked like, and what the building was once used for. This is what has laid the foundations for the green wall which adorns the courtyard. The centre has currently added more plant walls.<\/p>\n<p>Their biophilic appearance creates a tranquil, green oasis in the middle of the pulsating Copenhagen city life.
